We would recommend the following pubs that have a nice walk nearby:-

The Peasant in Chishill (towards Royston)
Day trip to the coast
The north norfolk coast is only 1.5hrs away by car.
Walk round the house and grounds. Quite unusual to have a country house set on an island. Various events during the year including Opera.
Day Trips Away
It’s more than possible to visit London, The Cotswolds, York, Bath, Stonehenge etc., in a day. There are companies that provide these trips from Cambridge and back such as Roots Travel http://www.roots-travel.co.uk/day_tours.htm
